My 40th Birthday Celebration

I don't normally have a big party or anything for my birthday, but it's my 40th this year, so I thought this was a good excuse to gather some friends together.  Right?

But it's May - not June - my actual birthday month.  Well, the next few weeks are super busy (Memorial Day, David's ordination) and David will be leaving for Guatemala with a team on my actual birthday, so this was the best weekend to celebrate - so here we are.
We invited several couples over for a birthday brunch.  The more I thought about it, the more I realized that no one invites people over for brunch, and we need to rectify that situation!
And besides, what better way to celebrate a birthday than with bacon?
I received some really thoughtful and lovely gifts including flowers, plants, candles, gift cards, and decorative things for the house.  Oh! And chocolate.  I got some chocolate too.  =)
But more than anything, the best gift was getting to hang out with my friends.  This day was just SO AWESOME!
Before everyone headed out for the rest of their busy days (another reason it was great to catch everyone first thing in the morning) we got some photos.  I just love these ladies so much and I'm thankful they are in my life!
And after the party, the day was so gorgeous and we were already dolled up anyway, that we took some family selfies as well.
I've got one good looking family!  I'm so blessed!

Youth Group "School's Out" Luau

Tonight the youth are having a "School's Out" Luau.  Unfortunately, I think it's the coldest day in May!
Everyone had to bundle up for the Luau this year! Ha ha! But they had fun anyway (of course)!  Lydia invited Maddie and Bekah hung out with Rachel.

Choir Awards Banquet

This month as been SO BUSY!!  Whew!

Tonight was Lydia's Choir Awards Banquet.
The kids all line up alphabetically by grade to receive their awards.
Lydia's place in the line finally approached the table where we were sitting.
We had to grab a couple of quick photos while she was close by.
Lydia got her choir medal and a pin for being in choir in 6th and 7th grade.
Afterward, we snapped a few more photos.  Above, Lydia is with Ellie and Adam Coffey, and another friend.  And below, she is showing off her character award.  These are granted by the student leaders and praise something in each child's personality.  Lydia got "Most Artistic."

7th Grade Award Ceremony

The 7th grade awards ceremony took place at the middle school this morning, and Lydia was being given an award.
Lydia sat with her class and was then called up to receive her certificate for A/B Honor Roll.
After the ceremony, we got some obligatory photos with friends and family.  Becca Hill and Grey, and Mom & Dad.
One with Kara as well.
Proud of our girl!

Rebekah's 9th Grade Portrait

Woohoo!  Bekah's 9th grade portrait with her new ombre hair!  Not much to say about this, other than that my girl is growing up!

Lydia's Year-End Choir Concert

Lydia has her year-end choir concert tonight. The theme was rhythm and blue.
The kids sang all sorts of songs from that era.  They were on the stage, behind us, down the aisle - just generally all around.
Since it's the end of the year, we had to get a few pictures with Lydia's best choir friends.
And we have to get a photo with Adam, because well, he's Adam, and it's important.  And then we get a photo with Hope and Adam - Lydia's two besties this year.
