Dying Easter Eggs

Saturday night we FINALLY got around to dying Easter eggs.  We picked up a tie-dye Easter egg kit this year.

The dye was super concentrated and had to be applied with a dropper, and then dabbed off with a cloth.

The girls had lots of fun creating different patterns
and their fingertips were thoroughly dyed when we were all done.

They created some really neat designs...but don't look too closely, or you'll see all the cracks from dropping the eggs (multiple times)!  Eeek!
Some of our hard boiled eggs seemed more like soft boiled eggs when we were done with them.  =)

Better Than the Commercial

Spring Break 2013

Spring Break was a bit of a staycation this year, starting out with Easter presents from Mammy & Pappy.

We ate out at some great restaurants with our beautiful girls.

And did a little shopping too.  Bekah branched out more into her own funky fashion sense and picked up this epic shirt...

and this casual dress.

Lydia found this jewelry box in the Disney Store.

And the girls were pleasantly surprised to get these light-up pillows from their grandparents.
They can even sing the commercial for it.  (More on that later.)

But by far, the best time we had, was taking the girls to see The Croods.

Super fun!

Random

Just to share a few random things going on right now.
Some friends just adopted a new baby girl.  This is Evangeline.  We got to meet her on Thursday night.

Lydia saved up her money and purchased an iPod Touch.  She is BEYOND excited about it.  In fact, she messed with it so much the first day that she had it that she locked herself out of it by setting a password that she didn't remember.  After a crying jag in which she got numerous tears in her Cheerios, we calmed her down and assured her that we could unlock it.  With the help of a co-worker, we were able to restore it and all was right with the world.

:-/

And Bekah decided to make a mini-me out of clay.  It's so adorable and she had fun making it.
Here's a close up for your viewing pleasure.

And that's all the random in our lives right now.

My Favorite Toy - An Essay by Lydia

Lydia had to write an essay for Language Arts.  She wrote it about her favorite toy.  I thought it was really cute, so I wanted to share it.
My Favorite Toy
by Lydia

My favrate toy is a collection doll named Abby.  And here are 3 reasons why I love her. #3 She won't tell secrets;  #2 I love doing her hair; #1 I adore her personality. Hold on to your hats!  It's going to be a bummpy ride.

One reason is she won't tell secrets.  First of all her mouth is shut.  She is verry easy to talk to.  and with her my fellings spill out llike an avolanch.  She is also a grate lisiner.

The second reason is I like to give her make overs!  I absolutly love her short bangs, her very pritty dress and purple dress.

The finle reason is I adore her personality.  She has sutch a cinde (kind) loving face.  And her danty little hands.  And her pritty blue eyes.

And that my frends are 3 reasons why I love my toy/dall.  Cetch me later.  P.S. I hope you'r hats still on.  ha ha.

Then she drew this pretty picture of Abby in her bedroom, complete with her castle bed.  Very detailed.

Lydia ended up with a B on this essay, mainly due to her spelling, I think.  So we'll continue to work on that.  But I thought it was so cute and wanted to share.

Rebekah's Karate Tournament

This morning was the Wado-Ryu Southeastern Federation Karate Tournament.

We loaded up and headed to Columbia State Community College to join the other federation members for the competition.
Everyone lined up for the opening ceremonies.  I got a close up of Bekah, as it was a little hard to pick her group out of the crowd.  =)
Bekah competed in the kata competition against other yellow/white belts in her age group.

Here she is with the medal that she won after the competition.

This year, Bekah signed up for the sparring competition as well.
She was nervous that she was going to be competing against high schoolers, but I assured her it would be within her age group.

Here they are, lined up to spar.  Bekah's the one with the teal sparring gear.

It was finally time to spar and the whole match went so quickly!

And when it was all said and done, Bekah ended up with a 2nd Place trophy!!
It's about half as big as she is!!  We got it engraved while we were there and Bekah's got it in a place of honor on her desk now.  =)

Afterward, we went out celebrate at Logan's for lunch.  Just look at this happy girl.  So proud of her!  She did a great job!!

Pep Rally at the Middle School

Rebekah had a pep rally tonight.  The band played the pep rally music. They were fabulous!  We were quite impressed.

The pep rally was for the Hoop & Holler - a game between the faculty and the students. The first and third quarters, the female faculty played the girls' basketball team.
In the second and fourth quarters, the male faculty played the boys' basketball team.

And some of the teachers were cheerleaders, complete with a dance routine and stunts.

It was so neat to see the school's teachers/staff have so much fun with the kids.  It was a fun night and we had a great time.
Stay tuned for a few videos of Bekah's pep rally.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone!

We got all dressed up for church this fine St. Patrick's Day in our green shirts - set aside for just such an occasion.

And we weren't the only ones!  Bekah's friend, Melissa, was dressed to the hilt in her St. Patrick's glory!!
And to top it off, we had lunch with the Greens.  How appropriate, right?
