Sigur Rós Concert

On Friday night, David and I got to have a date night. We went to see Sigur Rós in concert at the Woods Amphitheater at Fontanel.
They're an Icelandic band that David really likes, and I got him the tickets as an (early) birthday present. We weren't sure what to expect, but the show turned out to be pretty good.
The weather was positively perfect, and we had a nice time.
The girls were spending the night with friends, so we had no worries.  Just a fun, relaxing night out, just the two of us. A fun date night.

Spirit Week

This week was Spirit Week at the Middle School.  Bekah got into the spirit (pun intended) of it and had some fun with it this year.

Monday was Mismatch Monday.
Last year, Bekah went all out for this and then was a little taken aback that she was the only one in her class that dressed up.  This year, she played it with a little more caution and just mismatched her plaids.  Then she took a jacket she could wear to cover up her shirt (just in case).  But it turned out that there were five others in her class that dressed up.  So she didn't stick out.  =)

Tuesday was Twin Tuesday.  Bekah, Lauren, and Stephanie all wore last year's band T-Shirt so they could make it Triplet Tuesday.  But Stephanie got sick, so I guess it was Twin Tuesday.  So, there you go.  =/
Wednesday was Way Back Wednesday.  So yeah.  I guess to Bekah the 1980's were waaaay back.  Ha!
I can't believe she let me crimp her hair!!  But she totally went all out for it!!  And those earrings are mine.  Although they're from the 1990's, they're big enough for the 1980's!!
Thursday was the day of the football game, so it was Spirit Day.  Everyone was to wear their spirit gear or school colors.  Bekah wore her band T-shirt since she was playing the pep rally music.
And we used hair chalk to color streaks of blue in her hair (which was still crimped from Way Back Wednesday).

Friday was Fan Friday...and...well, Bekah's a big fan of mustaches.  So that's what we went with.
So that finishes out Bekah's successful week of showing school spirit!

Pep Rally at the Football Game

Last night was the middle school football game and the 7th & 8th grade band played pep rally music throughout the game.

In typical middle school fashion, darling daughter demonstrated utter embarrassment that her mother was taking pictures of her during the pep rally.
In typical mom fashion, I explained to darling daughter that we had paid to get into this game and that I would be taking her photos.  After that, she was more than happy to comply with my photo requests.  (Sigh)

So, then we tried watching the game.  Lydia kept asking me questions.  I had absolutely no clue what was going on.  Oh, until the cheerleaders came out.  Then I knew what was going on.
And the high school band played during half-time.  I understood that part, too.  (Sigh) But Bekah's band sounded great!  Ha ha!  I knew that part!
I tried to get a few videos during the game, but we were sandwiched in and I could never get a good shot of Rebekah.  I got one decent video as the game was ending, but people were walking all over the place.  So that's the one you get to see (posted in a different post).

So I learned a lot about how this whole pep rally thing works.  And I got to visit with Shelley (Lauren's mom) during the game. So I would call it a success.

Oh!  And we won the game.  I guess that's important too.

Lydia's Teen Beach Movie Birthday Party

Well, the big day finally arrived!!  Time to celebrate Lydia's birthday - Teen Beach Movie style!!!

We decorated the house with surfboards, posters, flip flops and beach balls. And we prepped the cake, the snacks, and the games.

The kids played Lingo Bingo while they watched the movie.  And we took frequent breaks from the movie to do some fun things outside...like this mermaid stand-up.  They had one in the movie, so we had to have one for the party!  How fun!!

Cassidy and Lauren

Neve and Rebekah

Paige and Becca Hill

Phoebe and Emma

We also had a fun water balloon toss.  Becca and Cassidy won the first round.  Phoebe and Paige won the second round.
We found a giant flip flop pinata!  It held TONS of candy!!
After a little more of the movie, we did cake and presents.
We opted for an edible cake topper this year.  It was so cute and so easy!  I just love it!!  Lydia really liked it too.  The kids all told me whose face they wanted to have on their cake.  They were hilarious!
Lydia was very gracious as she opened her birthday presents.  She got a fun PacMan toy, a Duck Dynasty mug, gift cards to iTunes, Justice, and McDonalds, a necklace, a case for her iPod, and a fashion design sketchbook.
So glad this fun group of girls could join us to celebrate our Lydia!

Spirit Week

This week was Spirit Week at Lydia's school and she totally got in on it this year!

Monday was Sports Day, so Lydia wore her Run Club t-shirt.
Tuesday was Crazy Day - anything goes.
So Lydia dressed (and acted) as crazy as she could manage.
Wednesday was Pajama Day.
Thursday was Crazy Hat Day, so Lydia wore her tiara.
And today was Spirit Day.  They have to wear their school Eagle shirts or the ones the high school just gave them.
So that rounded out Lydia's week of wardrobe choices!  =)
