Lost teeth and British accents

Bekah lost a tooth on Friday night.

As I tucked her in bed, she asked me if the Tooth Fairy was real.

I said, "What do you think?"

(Pretty cool little trick how I turned that question around to her.)

She said, "I think that the mom and dad are the ones that put the money under the pillow, but the Tooth Fairy keeps the tooth to build her tooth castle."

Okay....

And in church yesterday, the missions pastor from Cool Springs was speaking. Bekah asked where he was from. I said, "He's from England."

She said, "Oh. I thought he was from London."

I said, "London is in England."

She smiled and said, "Oh. Good." Then she said, "In England, they don't say 'my.' They say 'me.' Like 'I lost me mum.'"

Talk about cracking me up in the middle of church!

More baptism pictures

Our friend Karl has an awesome camera and he took the "official" pictures of the baptisms on Sunday.
Here are a few that he got of Bekah. They are GREAT!

Rebekah got baptized!

Rebekah made the last minute decision last night that she wanted to be baptized.

After they announced at church last Sunday that they would be having baptisms, we asked Rebekah if she wanted to be baptized.

She told us that she was too embarrassed to get in front of all those people. She REALLY didn't want to, so we didn't push it. We told her that we could wait and do it when she was more comfortable with the idea.

Then last night, on the way to a friend's house for dinner, Bekah announced, "I want to be baptized!" Then giggled.

We asked what changed her mind and she said that as we drove past a church, she saw three crosses. She got to thinking about things, and decided that she DID want to get baptized.

Wow! That was REALLY last minute. They were having baptisms the very next day.

Well, God is good, because at dinner was the children's pastor, Curtis. We asked him if it would be okay to have a last minute addition to the baptisms. He texted the pastor, and the pastor texted back that it would be wonderful if Bekah could be baptized.
We were pretty excited.

So, this morning, Bekah was baptized...by her daddy. I could not have been more proud.
Bekah was so short it was hard to see her over the edge of the tub!

When David got in the tub, he said, "I'm going to baptize my beautiful daughter."
This got Bekah tickled and she started laughing. She laughed through the whole baptism.
Here are a few freeze frames from the video that I took.
Then after the baptism, Bekah started crying. She was just so overwhelmed and happy. It was really sweet.

And here is Bekah drawing a picture of her baptism during church. It's really cool how she had to immediately express herself in drawing right afterward.
See the drummer on the left hand side, and the baptismal tub on the right side with Daddy, Bekah, and Pastor Andrew.

After we changed Bekah's clothes, Lydia came up to her and hugged her and said, "How do you feel?" It was so sweet to see them together.

Yea for Bekah!!

Her brain...?

I told Rebekah to go study her spelling words last night.

And she did.

And then as I was giving her the test, she would say,

"Is the next word 'curl'?"

"Yes," I said, thinking it was funny that she knew the next word on the list...a fluke.

She wrote down the word and then said, "Is the next word 'third'?"

"Yes," I said.

"Yes! I knew it!"

Then, "Is the next word 'surf'?"

"Yes" I said again.

When I told her to study her spelling words, I meant for her to study how to spell them...not memorize the order they were on the spelling list.

I asked David last night, "What makes her mind work like that."

He just looked at me.

Straight at me.

And said, "You're going to have to answer that."

Fun at the park

A couple of Saturdays ago, we went to Pinkerton Park to hang out on a beautiful day.

Here are a few pics...

And while we were there, we ran into the Lambs.

The girls were so excited to see Isabella!! Lydia completely freaked out.

It was really perfect timing, because we had just told Bekah about Isabella's family moving to Florida this summer. It was great that she got to spend some time with her right away!

Leprechaun Trap

This weekend, David and Lydia made a Leprechaun Trap for school.

There's a leprechaun running loose in Lydia's classroom that keeps making all kinds of messes and they were all given the task of making a trap to catch it.

Lydia designed it (with Daddy's help). It just HAD to have a rainbow.

Lydia wants the leprechaun to think he's in Ireland. She put pictures of Ireland on her trap.

She said, "Mommy, can leprechauns read?"

I said, "Yes, I think they can."

"Oh no!" she said, "I hope they didn't see the sign that said, 'Welcome to Tennessee'!"

Antarctic vs. Arctic

Lydia just asked me:

"Mommy, why is the Antarctic called 'the Antarctic'?

Is it because it is the aunt of the Arctic?"

Flood

Last night proved to be interesting. I had already put Lydia to bed, but Bekah was still up because she needed to go over her spelling words.

Then I hear water start hitting the floor.

That's odd, I thought.

I checked the washing machine (I was washing a quilt) and it looked fine. But then I still heard it.

Then the water started gushing out from under the washer and dryer.

Oh!!!

Bekah jumped up to help and we instantly both had wet socks and wet ankles of our pajama bottoms.

I said, "Bekah, quick! Go get some towels."

So she jumped up on the counter and started reaching for the paper towels.

"No Bekah - not paper towels! REAL towels!"

I looked and found where the hose had come loose from the wall. I picked it up before more water drained out of it.

And Bekah and I ran to the hall closet and grabbed armful of towels and ran back to the kitchen.

And David was at a meeting at church!!!

I texted him "washng machne flood" and we set to work.

Bekah was so helpful. She helped me lay down towels, ring them out in a bowl and then dump the bowl in the sink (didn't want to drip the towels all the way to the sink...there was a LOT of water!!).

We finally got it all cleaned up and got Bekah's homework done.

And when I tucked Bekah in, she said, "I've never been in a flood before. I'm going to tell Mrs. DeCola about it tomorrow. She won't believe that there was actually a flood in this day and age."

She's so cute!

(When David got home, he moved the washer and dryer and we got the rest of the water cleaned up...the floor is so clean under my washer and dryer now!!)

When Pigs Fly - Video of Lydia's song

lHere's the song that Lydia's class sang: When Pigs Fly

(You can see the video in a larger format here: http://blip.tv/file/1866200/

It's set to the tune of Old MacDonald.

First the kids said their lines:They say that pigs are sloppy. Yes that's a well-known fact. But we're a bunch of pigs who are cleaning up our act.

It makes us so unhappy and brings a tear to our eye. When someone says our home looks like a pig sty.

So please, before you call us names, we hope you'll stop and think. 'Cause we're a bunch of neatnik pigs who never make a stink!

Then their song goes like this:

We are pigs who love to clean; We dust and wash all day
And if you call our home a sty, then "Hogwash" is what we say.
'Cause it's dust, dust here and it's dust, dust there.
Find some dirt, give a squirt, everywhere we squirt dirt!
We are pigs who love to clean, don't get in our way!

Go to the closet, get out the mop.
Travel 'round the room and work that slop
Work that slop, work that slop!
Clean up the slop with your mop!

Twice each day around the room, we clean it through and through.
But if you try to hog the broom, we're gonna squeal on you.
'Cause it's sweep the floor and it's sweep some more.
Find a bug 'neath the rug, sweep it out the back door.

We are pigs who love to clean, don't get in our way!
Go to the closet, get out the broom.
Travel 'round the room and work that broom.
Work that broom, work that broom.
Clean up the room with your broom!

Lydia's play, Barnyard Moosical, took place last night and Lydia was a HIT! (Of course!)

She was such a HAM (no pun intended) during the play. I'll try to post some video later.

Lydia was one of the "Clean Pigs." There were also "Funky Chickens," "Milkshake Cows," and "Gourmet Goats."

All of the kids sang all of the songs. It was really cute.

Here are pics of our little star!!
