Rebekah's Stories Part 3 - Sliping Beoode (Sleeping Beauty)

Here's another one of Rebekah's stories.

I'd like to point out Sleeping Beauty's flowing blonde hair, and that she is climbing stairs by candlelight to a room with a spinning wheel in it (on the left).

I tell you, this girl has a great attention to detail!!

What she wrote:
Sliping Beoode is a princessess. She has anamls for hr fins. I love Beoode she is my favreit princessess.

What she meant:

Rebekah's Stories Part 2 - The Pets

Here's another one of Rebekah's stories that she wrote about our fish and our dog. I like how Bear is standing up like a human next to the fish tank.
This was right after our fish died. Again she's using a "silent Y."
What she wrote:
My fish died beekus. He was shrikeing. My dog is big he is hugrey all the timy.
He eit's a lot.
What she meant:
My fish died because he was shrinking. My dog is big. He is hungry all the time. He eats a lot.

Rebekah's Stories Part 1 - The Frog

Rebekah came home with several story sheets and some of them are just downright hilarious! She's supposed to draw a picture and then tell a story about it.
.
For this story, she chose to write about the time that Mom found a frog in her bathroom when she got up in the middle of the night.
.
I'll translate what she actually wrote and what she meant. Please keep in mind that at one point Rebekah believed that there was such a thing as a silent "y" so you'll see those at the end of some of her words. (Don't really know where she got that...)
.
You can click on these images to see them larger. What she wrote:
Win I was at my grandma haos. She was aslleepy and win she wit to the bath room a frog was in. The bath room. and she was scard and the frog bounce in the seecky and my grandma trid to cich the frog. But the frog was tow fast thin the frog bounce on the toeeillit and my grandma fllinlley. She cich the frog.

What she meant:
When I was at my grandma's house she was asleep and when she went to the bathroom a frog was in the bathroom. And she was scared. And the frog bounced in the sink and my grandma tried to catch the frog. But the frog was too fast. Then the frog bounced on the toilet and my grandma finally. She catched the frog.

And he comes home to me with roses...

...and says "A rose for every year that you've supported me!"

Isn't that so sweet?

And speaking of 12 years, here are some pictures from our anniversary date night!

Martin Luther King, Jr

Bekah made this at school and I think she did a really good job on it. If you click on the image, you can see it a little bigger.

Just finished this...

...and I'm pleased with it.

I've decided to start a scrapbook about David and me and I've been wanting to do this layout for a while. Scraplifted it from another scrapper, but I'm pleased with the results.

Happy Sunday!

Which Austen heroine are you?

Found this quiz on Kelli Crowe's blog and took it for fun. And apparently I am Elinor Dashwood.
.
You are Elinor Dashwood of Sense & Sensibility! You are practical, circumspect, and discreet. Though you are tremendously sensible and allow your head to rule, you have a deep, emotional side that few people often see.
.
.
You can take it at the site above.

The eclipse

While we were celebrating Kaleena's birthday, we kept running outside to check out the eclipse. Pretty cool.

Happy Birthday Kaleena!

Kaleena was busy getting a root canal on her actual birthday (Tuesday) so we went over on Wednesday to celebrate.

We had a little cake and a good time with friends.

We got Kaleena a box of Kix for her birthday. It's her favorite cereal (go figure) and she only buys it when it's on sale. (Kaleena is the most frugal person you'll ever meet.)

We also got her a scrapbooking tool.

Happy Birthday, Kaleena!

Lydia's Valentine's Party

Lydia's class had a really great Valentine's party. It was at lunch time and I got to go. They had tons of activities. They got to make their own sugar cookies, made a little picture frame with their pictures and had various heart games around the room.

This is Lydia's little friend Zy'Ann. She has just as much spunk as Lydia, so they're pretty evenly matched. Ha!

Something Lydia thought was pretty cool was that I won a door prize. It's a Bratz rock star headset. It plugs into an ipod and you can sing along and hear your voice with the music in the headphones. Lydia was loving it!

Haircut

Got a haircut (and style) today. Something I never ever do. I was so nervous. My hair doesn't grow, so to have it cut is a risk. If the haircut is not good I will have to live with it for a LONG time. So here's a little preview. Nothing drastic. Just some layers and a little length off. I like it...

I guess it's been about four years since my last haircut...

Slumber party

Rebekah went to Reagan's house to spend the night tonight.

Lydia is handling it pretty well.

In fact, she's having a little slumber party of her own. She's got Dora, Mermaid Dora, Diego, Penguini (her penguin), Sherlock, and an array of Barbies.
She's doing great. *grin*

The wisdom of Lydia

Monday night at dinner, Lydia looks at Rebekah and says,

"Always listen to Mommy. Mommy is always right, even when she's wrong."

Circus - Part 3

Two of the circus performers - an acrobat and the main clown, Bello, climbed the sway bars right in front of us. Obviously not all of the acts can happen facing us, and in this act, the performers had their backs to us. Once the woman got to the top of the sway bar, she bent over and started swaying her pole back and forth.

Upon this happening, Rebekah leaned over and said, "Mommy, why is that lady shaking her booty at us?" It was so hilarious!

Here's Lydia's nose creeping in to a picture I was taking of a performance.

And I have to show you these Chinese performers. They were incredible!

Here we are being silly with the clown noses!

That's it for the circus!

Circus Part 2

Okay, so back to the circus.

We saw another amazing acrobat --- this girl, apparently from Russia. Lydia was amazed at what she could do.

She chased her down so that she could get a picture! It was hilarious.

Look how pleased she is to have her picture taken.

We also got to meet the zebra trainer. Lydia LOVED her jewelry. (Would make Mammy proud!)

Next they got to watch an elephant paint a picture. That was pretty cool.

Lydia fell down while we were at the pre-show, so a clown gave her a clown nose (and Bekah one too) to cheer her up. They had fun with them the rest of the night.

Circus - Part 1

Well, I know that I'm going to run out of time today and not get to post all of the circus pictures, but I can at least get things started.

David got to run a spotlight for the Circus a couple of weeks ago and got us tickets to go on Sunday. The tickets were a complete surprise. David had us meet him after church on his lunch break. Then he surprised us with tickets. So we headed to the circus with the girls dressed in their Sunday best!

This view is the one that David had from where he was perched in the catwalk. He directed his spotlight to us a couple of times so that we would know where he was during the show.

The first thing that we got to do was go to the preshow. David knew which arenas to hit. The girls got to watch the hula hoop performers and then got to try it out themselves. Rebekah did really great (especially considering she was in a dress!).

Then they had a rack full of circus clothes that the kids could try on. Lydia especially liked this part.

Then they got to meet "the boss of the clowns." Here he's standing on a ball as the girls go to meet him.

He seriously checked out their tattoos very closely. *grin*
And then Bekah got her picture with him. (Lydia didn't want to.)

After that we watched this acrobat. She was really amazing!
