Olivia's birthday party

We had to tear ourselves away from the Congreso on Saturday to go to Olivia’s birthday party. Olivia is in Lydia’s class at church and she just turned five.

So we headed to her house for a Curious George birthday party. It was a lot of fun.
Here are some pics from the party.
We also went to another party on Saturday, which I will share in another post.

Musico a Musico Congresso

We had a very crazy Saturday. There were two birthday parties and the Musico a Musico Congreso was in full swing in Nashville.

We’ve been up at the Congreso every chance we get to support David in Musico and to see the ministry that they do first-hand. The last time they held a Congreso in Nashville was three years ago. This time it was at a local Hispanic church. It was really great to see everything that they do. The team works really well together and they sound absolutely incredible!!

Here are a few team pictures that they sent our earlier today. I wanted to at least post these until I get a chance to download the pictures that we took.

Musico always takes a group picture at each Congreso (since each Congreso's team is different from location to location).

And then they always take a "fighting" team picture just for laughs.

David taught two classes this weekend and was able to do some one-on-one with several of his students. Here's David playing with Alexis, who came in from Peru.

At the end of the Congreso, they have a time of prayer for individuals.

Shrek Car

Just saw this post over at Tara Whitney's blog and it totally made me laugh out loud.

Just wanted to share.

Since we're on the subject...

Since we're on the subject of creative displays...

I worked on some bulletin boards at church.

This one was already done by someone else, I just added the Bible verse. Pastor Dale always said that this was the verse theme of the nursery. I always thought it was funny...and the board needed a little something extra. So I put my Cricut to work and I like how the letters looks on the board.

And this is the board I made for the 2's & 3's class (the one I teach). I asked for some paper to cover the board (because what they had was ripped) and they provided me with the tree. I took pictures of the kids and printed them, cut out coconuts and put their pictures in them. Then I put the little "We are cocoNUTS for Jesus!" Yes, I know it's REALLY corny, but hey! They're little. David just rolls his eyes when he sees it.

Teacher Appreciation Week

This week is teacher appreciation week at the girls' school, and I took on the task of making the poster for Bekah's class. (Each teacher gets a poster from the class for teacher appreciation week.) The theme this year is "Changing the World One Child at a Time" so I made the poster based on this theme.
Bekah's little person around the world is in the blue dress on the right side of the poster. Under each child is a pocket with his/her name on it. Each child wrote a note to Ms. Gildemeister telling her how she changed his/her world.
The notes were really sweet and the kids got to all "find" themselves on the world. It was a pretty fun project.

Houseboat download!

The Musico team met for their download (a time they get together to discuss their last trip) on Sunday. And the treat this time was that we met on one of the Musico members' houseboat! David and Barbara were nice enough to open up their home to all of us and we had a great time.

The girls were so excited about going! They just couldn't wait. Here they are saying "BOAT!"

And David and Barbara were great with the girls in telling them the rules of the houseboat.

The girls were great and listened carefully and only needed a few reminders.

And the most fun for the girls was that they got to drive the boat! They were SOOOOOO excited! So here are some pics of them enjoying it all!

The Musico team is made up of people from all of the Americas (North, Central & South). And here are some of the Musico members that were there:

Here's Wayne (one of the founders of Musico) chatting with David about the next Congreso.

Here's Josephina from Mexico (on the right). She was able to go on the last Musico trip to London. Her daughter, Karla and son-in-law Edwin are also part of the Musico team.

And Carolina is visiting from Chile (where she is quite a famous actress - she's in Chile's version of High School Musico as one of the moms.) She teaches drama.

And Brandon, who teaches mime. He's a Nashville native and has quite a testimony.

I hate that I didn't get any good pictures of David and Barbara. David was the videographer for the last trip and taught this to the students.

Oh! And the funniest thing. Last night when the girls were saying prayers, Rebekah prayed:
.
"And thank you, God, that I got to drive the boat first."
.
Lydia shot her a playful dirty look.
.
Then she prayed: "Thank you, God, that I got to drive the boat the longest."
.
Then it was Bekah's turn to shoot the playful dirty look. So funny!

First Ballet Lesson

The girls will be participating in a Mother’s Day ballet and their first dance class was on Saturday. This was Lydia’s first ballet class and she was pretty excited about it, but a little nervous to be on stage.

Lydia kept getting on and off the stage and I had to tell her to keep getting back up there and to direct her questions to the teacher and not to me. She kept asking why they had to do the same thing over and over again. I told her that it was called ballet practice because they had to practice the same thing numerous times.

Rebekah was able to get the dance down pretty quickly. I’m sure she’ll be able to help Lydia along.

After going through the dance several times, Valerie, the ballet teacher, asked if anyone had any questions.

Lydia raised her hand first.

Valerie: Yes, Lydia?

Lydia: Do we have to do all the moves?

Valerie: Yes.

Evelyn (a five-year old) raised her hand next.

Valerie: Yes, Evelyn.

Evelyn: Can you tell us how to do the second part again?

Valerie: What part was that?

Evelyn: The second part.

Valerie: Which part are you talking about? What does it come after?

Evelyn: After the first part.

Valerie: We’ll just go over the whole thing again.

Alyssa (another five year old) raised her hand next:

Valerie: Yes, Alyssa.

Alyssa: What if we don’t learn all the moves?

Valerie: You will.

Alyssa: But what if we don’t?

Valerie decided after all of this to not ask the girls if they have any questions again. Ha ha!

Ha ha ha!! HA!

Dana just called me.
.
Not sure how it happened.
.
But somehow she posted HER scrapbook pages on MY blog.
.
Hilarious.
.
How did she DO that?
.
Too funny!

They are mocking me, I tell you!

I have a weakness when it comes to putting away laundry...I can't ever seem to get it all done before the next batch is ready to go in.
.

Right now, the socks - all that's left of the last batch of laundry - are mocking me from the laundry basket.
.

Are we ever going to be matched and put in the drawer?
. Huh?

Huh?

Huh?

Huh?

BUGZ!

I could have kicked myself yesterday for bringing my camera to work so I could download the play pictures - but WITHOUT the MEMORY CARD.

Duh!

So here they are, a day later than I planned.

So the entire first grade has been practicing for their BUGZ play for weeks. Each first grade class was a different bug. There were butterflies, ladybugs, fireflies, army ants, honey bees (Bekah's class), a stink bug and even a maggot!! (His parents must be so proud!!)

I actually sat in front of the maggot's grandmother. His name is Wade and he's in Bekah's class. I had to get a picture of him.

Rebekah's class was the first to sing. The premise was that all of the bugs were off to a picnic. A stink bug comes along that no one wants to be around. But then the bugs discover that if they all sniff the flowers, they don't notice the stink bug's smell and he gets to join in the picnic too.
Rebekah's class was so cute shaking their little stingers! And Bekah's antennae got hung up with another kids and her hat came off. The music teacher, Ms. Black had to do a quick fix
And Bekah got to help unwrap the butterflies from their cocoons.
And then Bekah had a speaking part. She was so excited and she's been practicing and practicing.
Just look at her grabbing that microphone!
And of course we had to grab a pic with Ms. Gildemeister.
And one with Bekah's friend Isabella too.
