Grandma update #2

I spent the night at the hospital last night. I managed to maneuver the furniture in the waiting room so that I could sleep. (They close down visiting hours in the ICU at 9:30 p.m.) Mom & Aunt Judi arrived about 8:00 a.m. and we were finally able to get in to see Grandma at 9:00. She was feeling better today. She had a good nurse who helped her freshen up and get her exactly what she needed. She really liked her. And the doctor said that she could be moved to a regular room today. Her heart had some strain due to the blood clots, but the doctor is hopeful that the medicine will dissolve the clots, since we caught them so early. He told her she was lucky. She said that she's always been lucky. She should be released from the hospital tomorrow or Sunday.

Grandma update

The doctors have found that it was, in fact, a blood clot that was causing my grandmother's shortness of breath. They think the clot formed in her leg during the long car trip down and then traveled to her lungs. She's in the ICU right now, just as a precaution, so that the doctors can monitor her oxygen level. So far, she's been doing really well. She'll have to spend tonight in the ICU again, but she should be moved to a room tomorrow. They've run a bunch of tests to make sure there aren't any more clots. Now the only thing left to do is for the doctors to ease her onto the blood thinning medication. Once that's regulated, she'll be released. (I know she's ready for that!)

Thanks for your prayers!

Grandma

My grandma went to the hospital this afternoon. She has been short of breath the past two days. They are performing tests right now. It looks like she might have a blood clot. Please pray for her and that the doctors find exactly what's wrong so that they can treat it quickly.

Many many thanks.

Dress up

The Yoders came over the other day for dinner and Rebekah, Lydia and Mercey set to work making tiaras and dressing up like princesses. Aren't they so cute?

That's all. There's not really anything else to say. I just wanted to share the photos.

More Christmas...

As we were driving her
e on Sunday, David and I were trying to remember the last time we made the trip...

We haven't been here since June.

Wow!

We're taking this week to catch up with some old friends. We've already made plans with several and we are hoping to go to our old church while we're here too. It'll be neat to show off the girls and to see how everyone's children have grown. =)
Here are some photos from Christmas morning. The girls were so sweet, wanting to help everyone open their presents. After helping pass out the presents, they opened their stockings. They got lots of cute little things. (Lydia loves her hair brush the best. Rebekah likes her stack of sticky notes the best.)

I think the funniest gift was the "Clapper" that Mom got Jack for Christmas. =) He's already put it to use in his room.

The biggest gift was the laptop Aunt Judi gave Grandma. Now, once she gets the hang of it, she'll be able to check out the blog! (Hi Grandma!)

I got some really great scrapbook stuff...some punches from Jason and lots of other fun things from David, including my favorite, an eyelet setter. I've been wanting one for a while, but couldn't bring myself to spend the money on it. =)

David got a few gift cards...a couple to Borders and one to the mall. He's off spending them now.

The girls checked out Jason's new Spanish language program on his computer. They were really into it.

The rest of the day, everyone just relaxed and ate and relaxed some more. The girls have been playing with their things this morning and Lydia's still taking her nap now. Not a whole lot going on, I guess.

Hope you had a very merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Good evening!! We had a very merry Christmas and hope that you did too. The girls were so excited about opening presents!!

Yesterday, we got up before church and had our own little Christmas celebration, just the four of us. It was so sweet. The girls were so excited. I had to stop Lydia from opening her present before everyone else was in the room! She couldn't wait!

We got Rebekah a new backpack for school. She was so excited about it that she wore it all through breakfast! We got Lydia a Dora soccer DVD. And then their big gift together was a Dora remote-control Jeep. They did a great job taking turns, driving it all over the house.

We got dressed for church. The girls look so cute in the little outfits that Paul & Suzie got them for Christmas. They were so cute at church this morning too, showing off their new outfits!!

Lydia found this halo during her Sunday School class. I had to run out to the car and get the camera! Isn't she just too cute?

Last week at church & work we gave out cookies to our friends (and got lots of goodies in return as well). Everyone has been so joyful. It has been so fun to see everyone celebrating.

Well, I'm on Jack's computer, so I'd better run. I'll try to post more tomorrow...

The bowling alley

Like I was saying in my last post…

Dad & Lynn took us to a bowling alley that had arcade games and a mini-restaurant. The girls started dancing to the juke box while the adults finished eating their dinner. Here’s Lydia eating a jaw breaker she won in one of the video games.

Check out these little bowling shoes!!

They put up bumper guards for the lane the girls were bowling in. The balls that Bekah bowled were the slowest I’ve ever seen. I didn’t think they’d make it down the lane. The sad part is that Rebekah and I scored about the same on our games. Eeek! It’s been a while since I’ve gone bowling.

Check this out! Lydia scored in second place behind Dad. (That’s ahead of David, Rebekah AND me!!) Not bad! At one point, Lydia and Dad were tied!!
Check out the score board! (GJ is Grandpa Joe, J is Jayna, B is Bekah, D is David, and L is Lydia.)

Christmas at Dad & Lynn's

Wow. I guess I have gotten behind on my blogging.

Here are some pictures from our trip to see my dad in Missouri. Last year, we stopped in on our way home from my grandma’s house. But since we were in Arkansas this year for Thanksgiving, we had to make a separate trip. We had a little early Christmas with them when we got there. The girls got several books and Dora and Diego plush dolls. (Lydia’s been sleeping with them…)

Check out this picture Lydia took of the dolls. Focused and everything!

They also got a Cars DVD, which we watched right after they got it. =) It was very cute.

Even though it was pretty cold, the girls still wanted to play outside on the swings, so we indulged them a little bit.

Later, we went to a bowling alley and the girls got to bowl for the first time. Unfortunately, Blogger is yelling at me again and not letting me post pictures from the bowling alley! Ugh! I’ll try again later…

The rest of the Christmas party

Here are the rest of the pictures from the Christmas party.

Here's Bekah modeling her reindeer shirt.

And here's Lydia enjoying some brunch!

Here are the kids helping Ms. Shell open her presents.

And here's Bekah with Ms. Shell.

Jingle Bells gift exchange

The video's a little blurry in places as I tried to zoom in (takes the camera a little time to adjust). Hope this turns out okay!!

Pajama Day and a Christmas Party

I guess I should have blogged this yesterday...but the day got away from me. Yesterday Rebekah had pajama day at school. They got to watch the Polar Express also. She was pretty excited about it.

Today they had their Christmas party at school. Rebekah got to wear the reindeer sweatshirt she decorated. (See her hand prints are the antlers? Isn't that so cute?)

The kids started the party with making edible Christmas trees. The spread green icing on a sugar cone and then decorated it with mini-M&M's. She kept asking when she could eat it. We made her wait until she had finished decorating it. It sure looks like she enjoyed it!

When it was time to exchange gifts, the kids all sat in a big circle. Each child brought a wrapped book. Lydia sat in the circle with them. Do you see this? Isn't this so sweet, Rebekah leaned over to tie Lydia's shoe for her? Anyway, they played a little game while they sang "Jingle Bells." Every time they said “jingle” they had to pass the gift to the right. Well, even though Ms. Shell showed them, some of the kids got their left and right mixed up. The kids were passing the gifts every which direction. And one little girl, Skylar, didn’t pass them at all! All the parents were laughing as a pile of gifts stacked up in Skylar’s lap! I videoed it. I’ll try to post it later. It was so cute. So there was a free-for-all when the game was over with all the kids grabbing gifts out of Skylar's lap!

When Rebekah opened her gift, she said, “Oh! It’s just what I wanted!” (Like someone had picked it out specifically for her!) She was so cute! Lydia ended up with a gift by mistake and David had to explain to her that there were only enough gifts for the kids in Rebekah’s class. She did so great watching the other kids open their gifts. We were very proud of her. She didn’t get upset at all.

I have a few more pictures, but I guess I've hit the limit for this post. I will try to post more photos and stories later...but you get the idea about the party.

Happy Thursday!
