Report Cards and TCAP Quick Scores

The girls' report cards are in, and they say that they are brilliant!  Of course, this is no shocker!  I am one proud mama!!

The girls got their grades for the fourth nine-weeks, as well as their TCAP quick scores (the big achievement test they take each year that comprises 15% of their grade).

Lydia got three A's and three B's!  I'm so proud of her for pulling herself out of the slump from last nine-weeks.  Here's the breakdown:
Language Arts: 86 B
Math: 85 B
Science: 87 B
Social Studies: 91 A
Chorus: 97 A
Digital Music: 100 A

Lydia's TCAP scores were also great.  Here's the breakdown:
Language Arts: 91 - Proficient (Up three points from last year!)
Math: 87 - Proficient (woohoo!)
Science: 85 - Proficient

Rebekah ended the nine-weeks with four A's and two B's!  Here's the breakdown:
Language Arts: 90 B
Math: 95 A
Science: 87 B
Social Studies: 93 A
Band: 99 A
General Intermission (Heritage Helpers): 100 A

Rebekah's TCAP scores were astounding!  Here's the breakdown:
Language Arts: 98 - Advanced (Yes. that is a NINE and an EIGHT! And up ELEVEN POINTS from last year!)
Math: 91 - Proficient (Up THIRTEEN POINTS from last year!!)
Science: 97 -Advanced!

I could not possibly be more proud of my girls!  These are FABULOUS results!

Yearbook!

The girls got their yearbooks at the TAIL END of the year, with BARELY enough time to grab some autographs from their friends.  Here are the highlights of my girlies throughout their yearbook.

Here is Bekah's portrait in the Eighth Grade section.
And Lydia's portrait in the Sixth Grade section.
They both made the Heritage School Activities page.  Lydia's in the choir picture at the top (which is also later in the yearbook) and they are both in the Souled Out photo at the bottom (which is also later in the yearbook).
Lydia made it on the page about the Alice! play.  She on the right-hand side, one up from the bottom.  She's making quite a face!
Then on the Clubs page, Bekah is shown in the Battle of the Books and Heritage Helpers.
And both the girls are show in the Souled Out Club.  (And Bekah's name is misspelled.)
Here is Lydia in the Sixth Grade Choir (front row, third from left).
And here's Bekah in the Eighth Grade Band (front row, fifth from left).
And you can barely see her, but she's at the very edge of this band picture - almost inside the binding of the yearbook.  =)
Lydia's on one of the fun pages of snapshots with her friend.

And she appeared again on another one in her role as Oyster 1 (but she's covering her face...fourth from the left).
And finally, Bekah's in the photo of the entire eighth grade class at the end of the yearbook.  She's on the right-hand side.  See below for a close-up view.
Love how the girls get to see themselves in their yearbook, and that they'll always have these for their memories.

Rebekah's Graduation Party

After the graduation ceremony, Rebekah's "lunch bunch" and a few other friends headed over to Lauren's house for a little party. Everyone bought some things to share...and we stuck with the Heritage Hornets school colors of blue and orange.
The kids sat around and signed each other's yearbooks.
And they shared lots of puns.  I don't know how they got on it, but as they sat around, they shared all these Science jokes and puns.

Example from Rebekah: "I saw that Oxygen and Magnesium were dating and I was like OMG."
Our daughter is so proud of her nerd status and her nerdy friends.  I'm so thankful that she has good, smart friends that will bring her up and not tear her down.
Here are the girl graduates: Summer, Lauren, Bekah, Stephanie.
And the boy graduates: Brent, Garrett, Josh, Derek, Camden.
Here's the "Lunch Bunch."  I just love this!!  Four boys, four girls - just great friends.
And here are all the crazies that were there celebrating.
Shelley had the idea that we should give each of the graduates a "paper plate" award.  I had never heard of this, but apparently it's this new thing where people make up their own, informal, awards for people.
Each parent made up their own award for their kids.  Some were funny (punny).  Some serious. All great - with lot of laughter.

Brent: Pythagoris Award; Josh: Dual-Lingual, Visionary, Kind, Thoughtful, Diligent; Garrett: Best Procrastinator; Derek: Head above all the others; Camden: Most Social.
Summer: Friendship; Lauren: Matured; Rebekah: Encourager; Stephanie: Dedication
A fun time was had by all!

Rebekah's 8th Grade Graduation!

Oh my goodness!  My baby graduated from 8th grade!!  She's a FRESHMAN!!  Crazy stuff.
The awards ceremony was this morning, so I made some cupcakes last night for my graduate!!
We thought we were getting to the ceremony early enough to get a great seat.  But, my goodness!  We live in a very great school district with LOTS of parental involvement.  So glad for that!!
They had a slideshow of all of the graduates with toddler and baby pictures.  This is the one that Bekah chose.
There were so many students receiving awards, that they just had them stand when they received an award, and it was given to them with their graduation certificate.
Here is Bekah standing to receive her Honor Roll award.  She's on the third row.

Below, she is receiving her Battle of the Books award.
And here, she is receiving her Heritage Helpers award.
And here she is walking across the stage to receive her awards.
Afterward, we grabbed a quick pic with Rachel Pruitt and with Summer Stille.

And then one final pic in front of the middle school!  Sniff, sniff!
So proud of our girl!  Can't wait to see what high school holds!
