Christ-giving

While we're all together for Thanksgiving, we go ahead and have Christmas too. We call it Christ-giving.

The girls got up and made biscuits with Mammy.

And then had time to do some arts and crafts with Mammy.
Here are some pictures from last night's Christ-giving. Here are all the granddaughters in front of their presents! They made out like bandits! Ha ha!

Here are the girls opening some of their presents.

And Lydia completely FREAKED OUT when REBEKAH got the Tinkerbell movie. (Lydia is in favor of sharing. Ha ha ha ha ha!!)

Bekah's big present was a personal CD player.

Lydia got her own throne. She is royalty, after all.

Thanksgiving pics

I just wanted to post a few pictures from this weekend.

Here are the girls helping with Thanksgiving dinner yesterday.

And while we were waiting for the turkey to be done, the girls put on a little show. Amber was directing Lydia in her dance.

Mamaw came by with Aunt Beth and Justin. We snapped a few pictures while she was here.

Here are the great-granddaughters with Mamaw.

And here are four generations: (Back L-R) Me, David, Lydia, Mamaw, David's Dad, Hope, Eric
(Front L-R) Rebekah, Amber and David's Mom.

Right after we finished eating, Uncle Fred, Aunt Brenda, Scott, Julie and Aidan showed up. After visiting for a while, we went back to snapping pictures.

Here we are with Scott (David's cousin), Julie, and Aidan.

This is David's cousin, Justin.

And here's Mamaw with her daughters, Beth, Mom (Sondra) and Brenda.

And here are Fred and Brenda.

Just a couple of layouts

Lydia is thankful.

I took a picture of Lydia's "thankful" leaf when we were at her fall party the other day.

It says, "I am thank for...my Gamo"

(My Grandma)

Aaaahhh! How sweet.

And check out the picture!

I guess you're never too old for your mom to correct you...

Apparently, I used the wrong "discreet" in my Miley Cyrus post. Of course, spell-check didn't flag it because it was spelled correctly.

I used:

discrete
–adjective
1. apart or detached from others; separate; distinct: six discrete parts.
2. consisting of or characterized by distinct or individual parts; discontinuous.

I should have used:

discreet
–adjective
1. judicious in one's conduct or speech, esp. with regard to respecting privacy or maintaining silence about something of a delicate nature; prudent; circumspect.

I've fixed it now, Mom. Thanks!

A sweet note from Lydia

Yesterday, when I left for work, I wrote a little note for Lydia.

And she read the whole thing by herself!

When I got home from work, she had written me this little note. (Click on it to view it larger.)

It says, "I love you Mommy. See you soon. Love, Lydia"

Isn't she so sweet? (And smart too!)

Lydia's Thanksgiving Feast

Lydia's class had their Thanksgiving Feast today. Lydia decided to be an Indian.

Her costume is made out of a pillow case. And the only one David could find was a queen size, so she's got quite a long dress! Ha ha.

I'm really glad that David and I both got to go. It was a lot of fun.

The class made upside down pumpkin pie. They had pumpkin mixed with pumpkin pie spice. Then they poured vanilla pudding over it and mixed it up. Then they crumbled pie crust on top of that. Then they added whipped cream. Lydia thought it was really good.

I snapped a few pictures of Lydia with her friends.

Here is Lydia with Belle, her "best friend."

And this is Lydia with Dajana, the newest member of her class. Lydia was very excited to tell us that Dajana is from Hawaii.

And this is Lydia with Mrs. Fourakre.

Oh! Funny story. The class got Mrs. Fourakre a gift basket full of snacky foods for her birthday. Lydia said, "And there was popcorn in it and she didn't even share it with us!"

And I said, "Well, of course not, Lydia. It's for Mrs. Fourakre. She'll probably share it with her husband."

And Lydia said, "Do you know what Mrs. Fourakre's husband's name is?!?

MISTER Fourakre!"

(She was SO amazed by this. It was hilarious!!)

Tagged

I have been tagged.

Seven random and/or weird facts about myself:

1. I have an inability to tear a paper towel at the perforation. No matter how hard I try, I tear the towel.

2. I graduated in a class of 9.

3. I chose the name for my first child when I was 13. It's true. I found the diary entry from 1989.

4. I have two great grandfathers named Benjamin Franklin:
Benjamin Franklin Williams
Benjamin Franklin Stewart

5. I can't stand songs that repeat the same lyrics over and over again.

6. I don't lie or cheat. Every time I ever tried to lie or cheat as a child (maybe 4 times), I got caught. Every time. It never worked (thank God).

7. When I was 14, I told my (future) husband that I didn't like him so that he wouldn't know that I really liked him. (And I mean REALLY liked him.) It must have worked because we didn't start dating until I was 17. Ha ha!

Now I tag:Michelle

Lydia's first spelling test

Lydia took her first spelling test yesterday.

And she got a 100% !!!!

In case you're wondering, the last word is her "bonus" word. It was then. She gave it a shot! (ha ha)

Rebekah's buffalo skin

In art class the kids at the girls' school learned about different cultures. The second grade learned about Native Americans.
Rebekah made this buffalo skin. I think it's incredible and I just wanted to share.

Who knows who you're going to bump into at Walmart...

So we headed to Walmart to buy a winter coat for Rebekah. We finally settle on one and head toward the front of the store to check out...

...and pass by Miley Cyrus and her boyfriend.

I tried to discreetly tell the girls so that they could see her. But there's really no "discreet" with a five-year-old and a seven-year-old. Lydia said, "I want to see Hannah Montana!" And Bekah is pointing saying, "There's Miley Cyrus with the red skirt on!" as Miley ducks down an aisle. (This red skirt, actually...)

We went in another direction to give Miley some chance at a normal trip to Walmart...

But then we got in line at the check-out next to her (on purpose). Lydia waved. And Miley waved back. Made her day!

Happy Birthday David (a couple of weeks later...)

Since David was in Ecuador for his actual birthday, we celebrated tonight with a few friends.

We had tacos with all the fixings and then some drum cake. The girls were so good. And all the adults had a fun time swapping funny stories.

The girls, Emma, Lydia and Rebekah, helped David blow out the candles.

On the couch: Danny, Kristina, Eli, Daniel, Jeanine, Emma, Peter, Ryan

On the floor: Josh, Mary, Molly, Lydia, Bear, David, Jayna, Elijah, Michelle, & Rebekah

Halloween

We went to the Fall Festival at church. The girls had a blast and we had a pretty good time too.

Lydia dressed up like Princess Genevieve from Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses.

Rebekah went as Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean.

Check out her hook! Ha ha!!

The girls played games with their friends and won candy.

Here's Bekah with Isabella (Hannah Montana).

And Lydia with Mercey (you can't tell because of the coat, but she was a mermaid).

And Bekah and Lydia both participated in the cake walk. Lydia won a cupcake.

And Bekah won two!!

Okay, prepare to be grossed out...but here is the pumpkin that David made. (David's idea - I promise!!) The note says, "HEY KIDS!! Help yourselves to some candy! But not too much. Otherwise... ----->"

And here are the girls with the pumpkin.
