A Star is Born - Rebekah Takes a Turn As an Actress

City on a Hill Productions is filming a movie called "The Song."  It's a modern day movie based on the story of Solomon.  They were looking for extras to film a concert scene.

Bekah and her friends hopped in on the action.  She went with Rachel, Kennedy, Ashleigh and Colton.  And they got front row seats!
When they got there, they had to learn the lyrics to the song, so that they could be singing along in the crowd.
Here they are, playing the part of screaming, adoring fans!  Isn't that awesome?
In between filming, they were able to grab autographs of some of the actors/band, as well as the director, assistant director, and assistant cameraman (?).  Yeah.  The assistant cameraman.  Go figure.
They were told that extras would be given snacks and drinks during filming.  This amounted to some Sun Chips and water, so they headed to Sonic afterward.
When Bekah got home, she was so sweaty, tired, and so, so proud of the $20 she earned in her first official "job."
I just love that she got to experience this.  I hope they have more opportunities like that.  She had so much fun (and earned some money to boot)!

(Some of the action was captured in this video. Hopefully it will play well.)

Youth Group Ice Skating

The youth is taking a break for the summer, but the kids still want to hang out with each other. So, Melissa's mom, Carol, organized a skate night at the local ice-skating rink.
Bekah was so excited!   She invited Lauren to spend the night that night so that she could go too.
The kids all had a blast (and David did too). Bekah did really well on the ice skates.  She only fell a few times.  I guess her inline rollerblades really helped with that.
Afterward, all the kids went to Sonic for a treat. And after that, Lauren and Rachel spent the night at our house.
 A totally fun night overall!

Neve's Birthday Party

Today, we got to celebrate Neve's 10th birthday.
Neve had set up all of her own fun games for the party.  She kept referring to her clipboard through the party.  It was so cute.  She started off by passing a roll of toilet paper and asking each girl to tear off some squares.  Then, depending on the number of squares they chose, they had to share a certain number of facts about themselves.

Neve shared two facts about herself:
1. I love cupcakes.

2. It's almost my second anniversary.

One girl asked, "Second anniversary for what?"

Neve: "For liking cupcakes."

Girl: "Oh!  I didn't know there were anniversaries for that."

The next game involved eating two Mike & Ikes with your eyes closed and trying to guess which two flavors you had in your mouth.  That was pretty fun.
And then they played "Pass the Parcel," which apparently is a pretty popular game in Ireland.  They pass the present until the music stops.  Then the person who's holding the gift opens it.  Only it's wrapped in layers and layers of wrapping paper.  The person that opens the last layer gets the prize inside.
After Pass the Parcel, it was time for snacks. And then everyone headed outside for the pinata - a cupcake, of course.
Aidan went shortly after Lydia, and made short order of the pinata. Then we headed back inside for cupcakes and candles.  Each girl decorated their own cupcake.  And then it was time for presents.
Neve nearly fainted at her gift from us.  We found this cupcake purse at Six Flags and just had to get it for her!
Then, at the end, instead of having goody bags, each girl got to reach inside the grab bag two times. Inside were fun things like headbands, necklaces, and earrings.
I really like this idea because then my kids don't come home with a bunch of Dollar Store toys that will break. And to finish up the party, everyone headed outside for a water balloon toss.
The grand finale was Christy bursting her balloon over her head.

We had a super fun time.  Happy birthday to Neve!

A Father's Day at Six Flags

Guess what we did for Father's Day?

Took these two crazy kiddos to SIX FLAGS!!

David's been wanting to take the girls for a while...and, well, it was his day!  So SIX FLAGS it is!!
Now, David and Rebekah LOVE roller coasters.  Lydia and I...not so much.  So we started out by taking it easy on these flying pirate ships.
It didn't take us long to find Looney Toons land (which Lydia loved, and Bekah could have lived without).  LOL!  I have such different kids!
We hopped in line for the Georgia Cyclone.  Lydia didn't want to ride, but we decided to wait in line together, since it wasn't that long of a line.  Then Lydia surprised us by, after making sure it didn't go upside-down, deciding that she DID want to ride the roller coaster.  So we all hopped on.
As you can see, by the time we got in line for the next roller coaster, Lydia wasn't so enthusiastic.  And this was the Dahlonega Mine Train!  We got in line.  We talked positively about it.  We got other kids to tell her it was fun.
No dice.

This was one that David and Bekah enjoyed on their own.  =)
Bekah and David were up for more roller coasters, and Lydia and I were fine to set our own pace.  So we were lounging in hot air balloons, while they were screaming their heads off on the Great American Scream Machine.
While we were waiting for them to get through the line, Lydia and I killed a little time in the carnival section.  Turns out, Lydia's pretty good at darts!
After that last roller coaster, we were HOT!  We stopped and grabbed some ice cream and watched a corny, but actually pretty entertaining show.  The girls really enjoyed it.  And we enjoyed the break in the shade.
By this time, we were BEAT!  Instead of trekking back across the park, we caught the air buckets.
Bekah really wanted a smashed penny souvenir before we left, so we made one last stop before heading out the gate.
So when our day was done, our kiddos were just as crazy!
They make me laugh so hard!
